VecTrax is updating to version 1.10.7 and will bring some security improvements.
After a long hiatus, a new version of VecTrax will be released in the upcoming weeks: version 1.10.7 is undergoing some quality assurance testing and will bring improvements on security.
Following some recent events in the IT field, including the bypassing of a famous IT service provider’s security measures and a serious fire in some buildings of another cloud service provider, we decided to improve VecTrax’s security.
VecTrax’s infrastructure has not been involved in any of the aforementioned accidents: but after seeing what happened we decided to speed up our security improvement plan, which was already in motion, as a preventative measure.
Base infrastructure updates
The new release of VecTrax will include an update of the base infrastructure, bringing it to the newest version available and introducing numerous fixes and news, both performance and security-wise.
This also allowed us to update many other dependencies and tools, bringing even more improvements.
Improvements of the Quality Assurance infrastructure
We seized the opportunity of this major update to improve our quality assurance infrastructure, making it faster and more precise: the number of stability tests has grown, but the speed of execution of said tests has been improved four-fold.
This will allow us to develop new features with the faith that the features already implemented won’t see any regressions.
Performance and user experience improvements
With this update we can make use of new the latest technologies and further improve the service’s performance, while keeping long-term maintainability: now data is gathered and aggregated more quickly and with less resource usage.
Some minor features have been added to further improve the user experience, like highlighting empty sample groups inside checks, which will give you a quick overview of a check’s completion status.
