VecTrax updated to version 1.10.0

VecTrax reaches version 1.10.0, bringing user experience improvements.

In the latest development cycle, we focused on bringing an improved user experience that involves all the business workflows, improving accessibility and lowering the entry barrier for new users.

Some creation screens have been edited

Some creation screens have been edited, refined and improved to be better ordered and clearer.

Some minor screens have been graphically revised to offer more consistency with the rest of the software.

Empty List” management

When an “empty list” is encountered, the software will show an informational screen that suggests creating a new object or checking the applied filters.

This should make the software easier to understand, easier to use and “more communicative”.

Background file generation

The downloadable file generation engine has been reviewed and now you can continue using the service while a file is created (not only reports): the file can be recovered by the “generated files list” in the “Asynchronous Operations” menu.

This allows you to recover files that have been previously generated, which will be stored for 24 hours (this interval can be changed in the options).

Better sign in scren

Now the sign in screen features a button to temporarily show the password you’re typing in: this way you can use more complex and safer passwords without fearing a mistype.

In the smartphone version, the “Login” button has been enlarged, to make it easier to touch.

Reverse “Check → Reports” relationship

Inside the check list, now there is a button that allows to search for reports that involve such check.

When you click such button a screen will appear, listing the reports that have been found.

New Calendar View

The old calendar view, which was impractical and chaotic, has been replaced by a new, simpler system that allows you to have a glimpse of the events of the selected day always ready.

It is still possible to add a new check or treatment and access the “waiting treatments” screen directly from the calendar view.

Main Menu Revision

The main menu has been completely revised to lower the cognitive load and simplify its usage.

Icons and text are now left-aligned, giving a sensation of order and cleanliness. Moreover, items that include sub-menus are now marked with a chevron.

The number of menu items has been reduced, to make navigation easier:

  • The calendar view has been moved under the “Planning” menu;
  • Statistics and “Management Statistics” have been merged into a “Statistics” section;
  • The weather data list has been moved under the “tools” menu.

A click on the “hamburger” button (the one on the top left corner, with three horizontal rows) won’t collapse the menu anymore, the menu will be hidden instead. To show the menu, just click the menu button again.

In mobile mode, the menu will now show a description of its buttons, making them simpler to touch and avoiding any doubts on their function.

New “compilation assistants”

The system used to quickly create a report, project and test journal rows have been updated.

Now each “compilation assistant” has a filter box that allows to quickly search what you’re looking for: this should be helpful in situations where there are many items to search through.

The aspect of such elements has been reviewed too, to give a better feeling of order.

Bug fixes

As in every new version, some bugs have been fixed, including:

  • Close buttons were too small in modal screens;
  • When you try to build a report without selecting a check, you will now receive a warning (nothing happened before this update);
  • Some page buttons were not centered on the screen;
  • General stability improvements.

New minor features

This version brings some further features that bring some minor improvements to the user experience, including:

  • Now you can see a preview of the models used to create documents, directly from the detail view in report → manage models;
  • The “new ticket” form has been remade: the software will try to compile as much data as possible and will ask for less information;
  • The “view details” icon has been changed, to avoid confusion with the “search” icon;
  • The “checks” icon in the main menu has been changed, to avoid confusion with the “search” icon;
  • The “archive” icon has been changed, to avoid confusion with the “save” icon;
  • The “antenna” icon in the top right corner has been removed, in favour of a “You are Offline” popup;
  • The Home page has been revised;
  • Performance improvements.
